Here are 3 simple tips you can do yourself to keep your furnace running this winter:
1. Change your filter- Use a good quality filter. You don’t have to buy the MOST expensive filter for your furnace, but don’t use the cheapest $1.00 filter, it will let too much dust get into your heat exchanger.
2. Vacuum the vents as best as possible- Dust and vacuum as best as you can. Dust can completely clog a return air vent and restrict your furnace. Often, only professional duct cleaning can do the job needed to get these vents clean.
3. Keep your furnace clean. Vacuum dust off contact points and the vents on the front of the furnace itself.
